This Privacy Policy is issued by Huzaifa Yasin operating under the name “Pane Studio” (“Pane Studio”, “we”, or “us”). This Privacy Policy forms an integral part of the Pane Studio Terms of Service and applies to all individuals or entities installing, accessing, or using the Pane Studio Product (“Client” or “User”).

By using the Product, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by this Privacy Policy and  the Terms of Service.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when users install or interact with pane. By using the Service, you acknowledge and agree to the terms described herein.

1. Information the Application Collects

Pane Studio is committed to transparency regarding the data handled by the application. The types of information collected are described below. By default, all recorded content and settings remain on the user’s device, and no data is transmitted or shared without explicit consent.

1.1 Recorded Media

The Application enables users to record:

• Screen and mouse cursor
• Webcam video (optional, user-controlled)
• Microphone audio (optional, user-controlled)
• System audio (optional, user-controlled)

All recorded media is stored locally on the user’s device and is never transmitted to our servers unless the user explicitly chooses to share, upload, or use future hosting features. At present, we do not offer cloud storage or sharing services, and no recording data leaves the user’s device without explicit consent. Recorded media cannot be shared through the application itself. Any sharing, uploading, or distribution of media is entirely under the user’s control and must be performed manually using external tools.

1.2 Recording Metadata & Analytics Data

The application generates limited technical metadata associated with recordings. This metadata may include:

• File names
• Recording duration
• Timestamps
• Resolution, format, and export settings
• Feature usage related to recording and export

This information helps improve reliability, diagnose technical issues, and enhance user support. Metadata collected for analytics purposes does not directly identify the user and is not used to determine personal identity.
Users may disable telemetry and crash reporting at any time in the Application settings. However, doing so may reduce support capabilities and product performance optimization.

1.3 Application Settings and Preferences

The application may store user preferences and configuration settings, including:

• Enabled or disabled recording sources
• Feature toggles (such as blur, highlight, or export options)
• User interface and display preferences.

1.4 Device and Application Information

When the user installs the application and proceeds past the initial setup. The application performs a one-time registration required to enable core functionality and license validation.
As part of this process, the application may transmit limited, non-personal technical information about the device and the installed application. This information is used solely to:

• Enable and maintain basic application functionality
• Validate the application environment
• Ensure compatibility, stability, and proper operation

This information:

• Is technical in nature and does not directly identify the user
• Does not include recorded media, screen content, audio, or personal files
• Is not used for tracking or advertising purposes
• Is not optional, as it is necessary for the application to function

By continuing past the initial setup screen, the user acknowledges and consents to this limited transmission of technical information required for operation of the software.

2. Telemetry & Diagnostic Data

Pane Studio may collect limited diagnostic and analytics data to improve application performance, stability, and user experience. This data is separate from recorded media and is collected only when analytics is enabled by the user.

2.1 Types of Telemetry and Diagnostic Data

When enabled, the application may collect non-personal technical information, including:

• Application performance metrics
• Non-identifying crash reports and error logs
• Aggregated feature usage information
• Technical metadata related to recordings (such as duration, format, resolution, and file-related attributes)

This data is used solely to:

• Diagnose technical issues
• Improve application reliability and performance
• Understand feature usage at an aggregate level

2.2 What Telemetry Does Not Include

Telemetry and diagnostic data never includes:

• Screen content
• Audio or video recordings
• Webcam, microphone, or system audio data
• Personal files or user-generated content
• Information that directly identifies an individual user

Recorded media itself is never accessed, analyzed, or transmitted as part of telemetry or diagnostics.

2.3 User Control

• Telemetry and analytics collection is optional and disabled or enabled through application settings.
• Users may disable telemetry at any time. Once disabled, no further diagnostic or analytics data is collected.
• Disabling telemetry does not affect core recording functionality, but may limit the ability to diagnose issues or improve performance.

2.4 Relationship to Required Operational Data

Certain limited technical information required for basic application operation and device registration is collected as described in Section 2. This required data is not classified as telemetry and cannot be disabled, as it is necessary for the application to function properly.

3. How We Use Information

Pane Studio uses collected information only to operate, maintain, and improve the application and related services. We do not use collected information for advertising, profiling, or resale.

3.1 Use of Recorded Media

• Recorded media (screen recordings, audio, webcam video, and system audio) is used solely to provide the recording functionality requested by the user.
• Recorded media is processed and stored locally on the user’s device and is never accessed, viewed, or transmitted by Pane Studio.

3.2 Use of Technical and Operational Information

Limited technical information collected during device registration and application operation is used to:

• Enable core application functionality
• Validate licenses and subscriptions
• Ensure compatibility with the user’s device and operating system
• Maintain service stability and security

This information is technical in nature, does not directly identify users, and is not used for tracking or advertising.

3.3 Use of Analytics and Diagnostic Data

When analytics or telemetry is enabled, collected data may be used to:

• Diagnose crashes and technical issues
• Improve application performance and reliability
• Understand feature usage at an aggregate level
• Guide product improvements and development decisions

Analytics and diagnostic data is:

• Optional and user-controlled
• Aggregated or non-identifying
• Never used to access or analyze recorded media content

3.4 Use of Licensing and Billing Information

Information collected through our web-based services during license purchase or subscription management may be used to:

• Process payments and issue licenses
• Manage subscriptions and entitlements
• Communicate about purchases, updates, or account-related matters
• Provide customer support

Pane Studio does not use billing or licensing information for marketing unrelated to the service, and does not store payment card details.

3.5 Legal, Security, and Compliance Purposes

Information may be used where necessary to:

• Comply with applicable laws and legal obligations
• Enforce our Terms of Service
• Protect against fraud, abuse, or security threats

4 Third-party processors handle:

Pane Studio uses a limited number of trusted third-party service providers to support licensing, analytics, and infrastructure. These providers process information only on our behalf and only for the purposes described below.

• Amazon Web Services (Hosting/API): IP addresses, access logs, technical logs and metrics (app, website, server). This data is used solely for maintaining service availability, security, and performance.
• Lemon Squeezy (Payment Processor): Purchases, subscriptions, and license management are handled by Lemon Squeezy. These providers may process information necessary to complete transactions and manage licenses, such as:
  • Purchase and order information
  • License and entitlement data
  • Billing and tax-related information
  • Customer contact details
• PostHog (Product Analytics): Feature usage events, recording metadata, Non-identifying device and application information, IP address, Analytics. Analytics providers do not receive recorded media content (screen, audio, or video).

6 Age Ratings Disclosure

Our software has been assigned official age ratings through the International Age Rating Coalition (IARC), which covers the following regional authorities:

• ESRB (North America): Everyone (E)
• PEGI (Europe): 3+
• USK (Germany): 0+ / Everyone
• IARC (Global): 3+

7 Children’s Privacy & Data Collection

While the content of the software is suitable for all ages, the collection of personal data (such as your email address for license activation) is strictly restricted to comply with global privacy laws.

Minimum Age Requirement

• Under 13 (USA/Global): This app is not directed to children under the age of 13. In accordance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we do not knowingly collect personal information (such as email addresses) from children under 13.
• Under 16 (EU/UK): In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), users in certain European jurisdictions must be at least 16 years old to provide their own consent for data processing.

8 How we handle data for younger users:

If a user is under the required age, they may still use the software, but a parent or legal guardian must perform the following actions:

• Purchase the license on the child’s behalf.
• Provide the parent's own email address for license verification.
• Manage the account on behalf of the minor.

9 Cookies

Cookies are small text files that are sent by the visited website and stored on the website user's device. This enables the website server to establish a connection with the user's browser and identify the user during subsequent visits to the website. The website can remember, for example, some user-selected settings.
The legal basis for the use of cookies is the legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR), which is to maintain the website session after moving between individual subpages of the website and statistical analysis of website traffic (analytical cookies).
